Devotion for November 13, 2025

The word disintegration comes from Latin — “dis” meaning “apart” and “integer” meaning “whole or untouched”. So disintegration literally means the falling apart of what was once whole. At times, (with) disintegration, you literally find things that are falling apart. Peace becomes panic. Unity changes into rivalry. Community gets torn apart by conflict. And systems collapse into confusion. Would you agree that we’re seeing disintegration unfold all around us?

But it’s one thing to see the world unravel. But when disintegration moves into your neighborhood, your family, your soul, it’s no longer a headline, it’s your life. Ever have one of those days where it feels like everything’s falling apart? You wake up late. Snap out at a loved one. Can’t find your keys. The car won’t start. You’re lacking energy.

And yet, everything is desperately trying to be held together. You feel like a hot mess. And as you watch serenity just disintegrate in front of you, you feel exhausted.

But here’s the truth. Colossians 1:17 says Jesus existed before anything else, and He holds creation together. How can we trust that this verse is true when we see evidence of things actually falling apart? Because Jesus holds all things.

He holds unity and disunity. He holds peace and He holds chaos. He holds together the wholeness of your life, and He also holds together the brokenness of your life. Yes, even your sin was held by Him at the cross. In fact, just a few lines later in Colossians, we read, He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

This means Jesus not only holds it all, He integrates it back into wholeness. Jesus integrates what sin has disintegrated. It’s called reconciliation. Romans 5:6-11 says, “For while we were still helpless, at the appointed moment, Christ died for the ungodly. For rarely will someone die for a just person — though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life! And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have now received this reconciliation through Him.”

So believe this truth today: Even when you’re unraveling, Jesus is not. Even when your mind races and your peace shatters, He holds you together — not barely, but fully, faithfully, and from the inside out.

You may feel scattered, but you’re not abandoned. You may feel broken, but you are not beyond repair. You are held. You are His. You are not disintegrating. You are being kept in Him.

Prayer

Jesus, on the days I feel like I’m disintegrating, remind me that You’re still holding me together. Hold my thoughts. Hold my heart. Hold my life. And help me trust that no matter how I feel, I am never outside the strength of Your grasp. Amen.

Stay encouraged!
