“The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me — to tell people the Good News about God’s grace.” (Acts 20:24, NCV)

The most important thing in life is not getting married, funding your retirement, traveling a lot, becoming famous, or paying off the house.

Paul says in Acts 20:24, “The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me — to tell people the Good News about God’s grace” (NCV).

The most important thing in life is to fulfill the mission God gave you. Jesus died on the cross for you, and He saved you for a purpose. So don’t waste your life living for things that won’t matter for eternity.

God put you on earth for a purpose. He has a unique mission that only you can fulfill. Part of that mission is to tell people the Good News of God’s grace. That’s how you know Christ, because somebody told you about Him. Who will you tell?

Think of all the people in your life who haven’t yet decided to follow Jesus. Have you ever considered that God wants you to be the one who tells them about the gospel? You have the Good News, and they need to hear it. Being obedient to God is as simple as taking advantage of every opportunity to share with someone what God has done for you — and for them — and how they can have a relationship with Him.

If somebody died for you, wouldn’t you want to know about it? Jesus died for every single person in the world. This weekend, millions of people will sit at home watching TV, with a soda or beer, maybe reading the newspaper, kicked back and relaxed — totally unaware that Jesus Christ died for them and unaware of the grace available to them.

The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3:9 that the Lord is patient because “He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from their sins” (GNT). God wants everybody in His family, and because God cares, we must care.

The way we show our gratitude for the grace of God is beginning our thoughts, words, and actions by praying for the daily change in self, then pray for people and situations around us, making our own lives count, by living a life of extravagant generosity, and by telling as many people as we can about the Good News of God’s grace.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, and the salvation offered to me. Work in me to change me so that I become more Christ-like in my thoughts, words and deeds. Then I ask You to work in the hearts of those around me and make the same changes in their lives. Give me the opportunity, and the thoughts, words and actions, to share with those who don’t know You.

Pray, praise, give thanks, and stay encouraged!
