“The Lord reigns … the Lord has clothed and encircled Himself with strength. Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Your throne is established from of old.” (Psalm 93:1-2)

Are you an optimist? A pessimist? As you look at life, are you hopeful or discouraged? If you dwell on the latest news, you might be worried or anxious. You might find your spirits rise or fall based on world events.

Amid life’s ever-changing circumstances, how refreshing to confess Biblical truths and know that “the Lord reigns.” We may not always see evidence of His reign, but the Bible reminds us that we only “see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror” (1 Corinthians 13:12, NLT).

But God sees everything perfectly. He already has declared “the end from the beginning” (Isaiah 46:10). He is never worried. His plans are sure. And He is worthy of all praise.

We will experience ups and downs, but no matter what happens in the world, we can trust God. As the psalmist wrote, His throne is established. He is the same from everlasting.

The psalmist declared his confidence in God because His “testimonies are fully confirmed” (v. 5). Throughout time He has proven faithful. Others may fail us and fall short, but we can trust Him because He is holy and cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18).

Make sure that you have faith in God. Focus on Him. Make Him your rock, your fortress, your strong tower. Declare His promises to be true. Dedicate your life to Him. Serve Him. Have faith in Him. Praise Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You reign and are clothed with majesty. Thank You that You are from everlasting. I trust You in every situation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Stay encouraged!
