Finding meaning and joy in life begins with accepting this idea of circular living. Consider that this is exactly how God set the earth in motion around the sun. It’s a picture of repetition, yet with divine purpose. When we accept this as a gift from God, we begin to see His design and acknowledge His work in these repeating cycles.
As a believer, I often live as though I have found Jesus. I check the box and move on with life. But that’s not what Scripture calls us to do. Jesus isn’t a destination we arrive at and then move past, like some kind of linear travel plan. Rather, we are called to continually seek Him. Yet so often I make my goals or my problems the focus of my daily seeking.
No wonder life feels like a frustrating circle when I live that way. But something changes incredibly when I place my seeking and place it towards Jesus as my everyday quest. Why? Because Jesus is life. Jesus is the yes to every one of God’s promises. Jesus is the lover of my soul. Nobody does it better. Jesus brings rest to my weariness and strength to my weakness.
Instead of wash, rinse, repeat, this circle of continually seeking the Lord sounds more like this:
Wake and seek Him. Psalm 5:3 says, “Each morning I bring my request to You, Lord, and wait expectantly.”
Go and seek Him. Psalm 119:73 says, “You made me; You created me. Now give me the sense to follow Your commands.”
Return and seek Him. From Psalm 63:6, “On my bed I remember You; I think of You through the watches of the night.”
What if we lived out this kind of rhythm with this kind of intention each day?
Prayer
Jesus, may we continually seek You each day, finding joy and purpose in Your presence. Amen.
Stay encouraged!
