The question was posed by Peter who when seeing a rich man approach Jesus asking what do I have to do to” get eternal life.” Jesus told him to keep the commandments and then proceeded to list 7 of them to which the rich man said he has kept them since he was a boy. Jesus looked at him and loved him and then said you still are lacking, “go sell what you have and give it to the poor and you will have riches in heaven.” The man couldn’t do that for he loved his wealth too much.
Today Jesus said how hard it is for the rich to get into heaven to which Peter asked the question “who then can be saved?” Jesus told him that with man it’s impossible but with God all things are possible.
