How do you start your day?
Alarm. Coffee. News. Notifications.
The world begins talking before we do.
But before the noise, before the rush. There’s a sacred invitation. You and I are called to worship early. Worship isn’t what we fit in after the day begins. It’s what begins the day itself. It’s not a warmup for life. It’s alignment with the One who gives it.
Psalm 5:3 says, “In the morning, Lord, You hear my voice.”
The first voice that God wants to hear is yours. He isn’t sliding through His calendar, His closet, or His phone. As you awake, He is there to say, “Good morning” and is happy to hear from you.
The call to worship early is about recognizing the Lord as priority. Psalm 63:1 adds, “Early will I seek You. My soul thirsts for You.” In other words, the call to worship early says, “Before I reach for anything else, I reach for You.”
Even Jesus modeled this rhythm. Mark 1:35 tells us that, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place where He prayed.” Now, if the Son of God needed early communion with the Father, how much more do we?
Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m a coffee guy. I love my morning coffee, but I would dare say and even promise that when we respond to God’s call to worship early, we find something even better than coffee.
Lamentations 3:22-23 reveals what’s waiting for us in those early moments of worship. It reads, “His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.”
Doesn’t it change the energy of the morning when you ponder and consider that your day starts with brand new blessings from the Lord? Think about that the next time you’re tempted to hit snooze. In fact, starting your day early in worship brings incredible confidence as we face the day.
More than Snickers, worship early really satisfies. Psalm 90:14 declares, “Satisfy us in the morning with Your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”
Hey, is that your alarm going off? Oh, it’s just God calling you to worship early. Answer that call and start your day with His love and care.
Prayer
Lord, before the world awakens, hear my voice. Before my feet move, fix my heart on You. Let Your new mercies meet me each morning. And satisfy me with Your steadfast love. In Jesus’s Name, Amen.
Stay encouraged!
