“Because you have made the LORD … your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you … He shall give His angels charge over you … they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” (Psalm 91:9-12, NKJV)

Fears strike at us from all sides. But the psalmist realized that in every situation, he could trust God to provide the help he needed.

The psalmist declared his conviction that we do not have to be afraid of any terror, any attacks, any pestilence, any destruction (vs. 5-6). Problems may rage all around us, but we can be sure that God is with us. He gives His angels charge over us.

But there is a condition: We must make God our refuge and habitation. We must seek Him, focus on Him, fill our lives with His Word, think His thoughts.

The psalmist understood these principles. He knew that “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (v. 1). He knew that God provides protection and shelter as we spend time with Him, listen to Him, trust Him, and worship Him.

Something powerful happens when we make God our refuge. Our lives are changed. Overwhelmed by His presence, we no longer are obsessed with problems or terrified by adversaries. He replaces fear with faith, uncertainty with confidence, and anxiety with joy and peace.

Today, God offers to deliver you from fear and protect you from your adversaries. Spend time with Him in prayer. Share your concerns and worries. Fill your mind with His Word. Worship Him with your whole heart. Let His peace flood your life.

Prayer

Father, I seek Your presence. Take away my anxieties and fears. I know that You are with me. I trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Stay encouraged!
