Christmas Day

Comparing our broken world today with COVID-19 and other issues to Charles Dickens book, “A Christmas Carol” we use scripture promises from the “Spirit of Christmas Past”; Old Testament writings, and the “Spirit of Christmas Present” in the New Testament story of the birth of Jesus and how the church is to relate to one another, and the “Spirit of Christmas Future” in the epistle writings of the New Testament that point us to a future with God in heaven.

Christmas Eve

Keys unlock things so that what is needed to perform or function is released. God provided a hope chest of promise throughout the Old Testament. That hope chest was opened in the New Testament Christmas story of the birth of our Saviour.

As you a child of God have the gospel key may you use it to unlock the treasure of Jesus into another person’s life.

God did something new in Mary and Joseph’s life with the announcement of the virgin birth of Jesus — Savior! God continues doing new gospel things in our lives everyday and provides opportunities to give a new gospel hope to others.

Receiving the Gospel of Christ and dressing in His love we then can enter the lives of others who are afraid, anxious, angry and feel despair. This gift of God is for all. May we pass it on.

But in all this we have the Gospel of Jesus who brings comfort, peace, hope and love for all and the big picture of everlasting life with Jesus. Being a cracked-pot for God, the Master Potter who sees value in what His hands can make or repair for the times we live in. I refer to a Japanese art work of taking broken pottery and making something new and useful from the pieces. It’s called “Kintsugi” which you may google or check on Youtube for visual description.

The Message is based upon Psalm 95:1-7. Read and see the invitations to “come”. The action words “let us sing”, “let us shout”, “extol Him”. May we find our joy in singing the gospel through our actions to others that they may too find peace in the Lord during these troubled days.

The world is experiencing frontline fatigue because of Covid-19. Even people who don’t have the infection are fatigued by the constant demands to stay safe. We have no normal life right now. But God brings the gospel of peace through His Word; the life of an ever-living Saviour who gifts us an overcoming faith. Our daily immersion in His Word to pray, praise and give thanks equip us to meet the daily challenges.

Matthew 25:1-13 tells of wise and foolish people that are preparing or not to be the eternal bride of Christ. The invitations to the wedding feast in heaven continue to go out through you. Let us continue to be His children and betrothed while there is still time.
