    The U.S. military plan to withdraw from Afghanistan didn’t go as planned, it had flaws, and the results are mixed as far as success or failure.

    There was and is provided for all humanity an unflawed, successful eternal rescue plan in Jesus Christ, for all who believe in Him are saved forever.

    Hebrews 2:14-18, New International Version

    “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”

    James 5:13-16
    13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

    A discussion from James 4:1-10
    1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. 4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

    As a child of God we have a responsibility to be different than the world’s teachers. We are set apart to share the Good News of salvation through Jesus. We know that we’re not perfect and mess up. We say hurtful things to others. The difference is that we are sorry and repent of such behaviour. It is through the discipline of thoughtful words we can either build up or tear down one another.

    James 3:13-18
    13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

    When we worship is the place more important than who? Psalm 32 gives us a relationship when we gather as “Church”.

    1. Blessed is the one
      whose transgressions are forgiven,
      whose sins are covered.
    2. Blessed is the one
      whose sin the Lord does not count against them
      and in whose spirit is no deceit.
    3. When I kept silent,
      my bones wasted away
      through my groaning all day long.
    4. For day and night
      your hand was heavy on me;
      my strength was sapped
      as in the heat of summer.
    5. Then I acknowledged my sin to you
      and did not cover up my iniquity.
      I said, “I will confess
      my transgressions to the Lord.”
      And you forgave
      the guilt of my sin.
    6. Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
      while you may be found;
      surely the rising of the mighty waters
      will not reach them.
    7. You are my hiding place;
      you will protect me from trouble
      and surround me with songs of deliverance.
    8. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
      I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
    9. Do not be like the horse or the mule,
      which have no understanding
      but must be controlled by bit and bridle
      or they will not come to you.
    10. Many are the woes of the wicked,
      but the Lord’s unfailing love
      surrounds the one who trusts in him.
    11. Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
      sing, all you who are upright in heart!

    Ephesians 5:15-17
    Pay careful attention, then, to
    how you walk
    not as unwise people but as wise
    making the most of the time,
    because the days are evil.
    So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

    The post-truth world is encountering the counter-culture Church with the ever present, ever living Word of God in Christ who alone is The Way, The Truth and the Life.
